Catherine (Cat) Goe, CP, the firm’s senior Intellectual Trademark Administrator, has over 24 years of legal experience, with 14 of those years specifically concentrating in Intellectual Property law. Ms. Goe is responsible for all aspects relating to the administration and prosecution of trademarks in the U.S. and internationally. Ms. Goe also manages the administration of trademark portfolios for Mayback & Hoffman’s clients, including cancellations, oppositions, and appeals, which are instituted at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) or in federal court. Ms. Goe is involved in conducting initial searches and educating clients on trademark selection in the U.S. and internationally, and is responsible for preparing state and federal trademark applications and other documents related to the prosecution of trademark applications and maintaining registered trademarks. Ms. Goe’s exposure to business organizations, contracts, real estate, probate, and civil litigation during her years of experience has afforded her a valuable foundation in her approach to address Intellectual Property prosecution and related issues.
Having earned an A.A. in Business Administration from Miami Dade College, she went on to complete the College’s ABA-approved paralegal curriculum, earning an A.S. in Legal Assisting. She sought, achieved, and maintains paralegal certification through the National Association of Legal Assistants. Electing to concentrate on Intellectual Property law, Ms. Goe was employed by two South Florida Intellectual Property boutique firms over 14 years before bringing her special expertise in trademark practice to Mayback & Hoffman in March, 2010. She is presently pursuing a B.A. in Anthropology at Florida International University to enhance her understanding of cultures in which trademarks serve as practical and powerful symbols.
